Real-time vs. FSW Hugo
Apr. 16th, 2010 03:49 pmI noted some of the similarities, as well as differences in temperament and personality between main-u!Hurley and alt-u!Hurley.
One clear one is that alt-u!Hurley has never lost his moorings mentally; never been "crazy." But in some ways he's not as nice a person as main-u!Hurley (such as when he is practically snarling at Desmond in the restaurant.) Oh, he's nicer on the *outside* (Mr. Big Philanthropist, for one thing), but he doesn't have that sweetness.
Both are shy around women (although it is very hard to believe that alt-u!Hurley wouldn't have women crowding around him; not just those who *like* big men, but gold-diggers as well.) Both are mother-driven (and embarrassed by mom.)
So while alt-u!Hurley is more competent, mentally "together," more proactive (he goes to Santa Rosa to see Libby, and weasels his way around the psychiatrist), in some ways I don't like him as much; he seems to lack a kind of tenderness and humility.
